White Death  by Tim Vicary (1989)

     I read White Death .  This book is a kind of suspense. In this book, a girl, nineteen years old, is in prison. At the airport, they find heroin in her bag. So she is waiting to go to court.

     I wrote down three quotes from White Death and will discuss them. The first: “And she got up and began to run across the room to her mother.” (p.3) This sentence showed me how sad and afraid she is. Because if the court decides that is her heroin, then she must die. Her mother wants to help her. The second is: “’Er... no, I don’t think ... er… I don’t know.’” (p.22). This sentence made me confused. I want to know more and more who put the heroin in her bag. The third is: “Stephen answered slowly. He did not look at Anna.” (p.35). I could find who is the crime from this sentence. From this sentence, you can know that heroin is a scary drug.

     I recommend this book. There are two reasons. First, this book is used easy words. I felt that I want to read continuance of this story. Second, we can enjoy because this story is suspense and understand the meaning of this title by reading the last. Please check this book!

A ghost in Love and Other Plays, by Michael Dean (1999)

 

I read A ghost in Love and Other Plays this week. This book is a short story. This book has three stories. All of them appeared ghosts, and these stories are mysterious. I like A ghost in Love the most.

I wrote down three quotes from A ghost in Love and will discuss them. The first: “ Oh Matthew and waited for you. I love you so much. Do you love me?” (p.27-28). I did not understand this sentence at first, but I gradually find the meaning and felt scary. The second is: “When she looked at someone, the next day they were ill.” (p.31). This sentence made me more and more horrible. But the main character was interested in her. If I were him, I could not do. The third is: “I don’t know. I’m going to tell you tomorrow.”(p.37). This sentence is very mysterious because he is teeters the choices of leaving her or not. This may be magic of a witch.

I recommend this book. There are several reasons. First, we can read easy because of short stories. Second, by reading, we want to know why this incident is happened. This book is not horror but mysterious. So if you are not good at horror, you could try it!

Shirley Homes and the Lithuanian Case

Shreley Homes and the Lithuanian Case, by Jennifer Bassett (2012)

This week I read Shreley Homes and the Lithuanian Case. This book is a mystery story. I liked this story because it includes a good love of family and this book has a love story a little.

I wrote down three quotes and will discuss them. The first is: ”At the moment he’s working Monday to Friday in a hospital because he needs the money.”(p.26). This sentence inspired me because he works every day for his future and his girlfriend. I felt I should spend time for myself, my dream, my future. The second is: “'But we're young, we can work hard, no problem about that,' He looks at Carrie. 'Your family.' ” (p.26). This sentence is important point to think about family. Sometimes, people have troubles among members of a family. By reading, I could feel that I need my family. The third is: “Family is important. My family is important to me. And I want you to have your family too... to be friends with your mother, and your father. And your little brother! ” (p.28). This is word from a boyfriend to a girlfriend. I thought he is very good man. Because He values not only her but also her family and relation between her and her family. I want to meet like him.

 I recommend this book because this book make us think about our family again. This book is not only mystery but also love. You can read without being bored.
